Christine's obituary

It is with profound regret that we announce the passing of Christine Blackman, born on July 25, 1942, who departed this life on March 25, 2024. She leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and dedication that touched many lives during her time with us.

A faithful attendee of the First United Methodist Church of Sarasota, Christine was well-known for her active involvement not only within her church community but also through her service in the larger Sarasota community. She generously donated her time and effort as a volunteer with Meals on Wheels and the Humane Society of Sarasota County.

Christine is survived by her daughter Jennifer Butler, her son Dan Blackman and wife Liz, nephew Kevin Lange, niece Darlene Lange, and her beloved grandchildren Zachary Blackman,  Ashley Williams and husband Patrick Williams, Brandon Butler, and Jared Butler.  She is predeceased by her son Scott Blackman,  sister Doris Lange, brother-in-law Ken Lange, and her parents Alfred and Eva Scheuch.

Christine had a zest for life reflected in her fondness for giving back to her community, serving her church and being a wonderful Mom, friend and example to to her grand kids.  She found joy in listening to classical music, particularly the works of Johann Bach and Mozart.  She passed down her love for music to her children.  When she needed a break, she loved to travel to visit her family in New York , North Carolina, and Texas.

A Celebration of Life will be held on July 26th, 2025 at 2 PM in The Chapel of the First United Methodist Church, Sarasota.  In Lieu of flowers,  Christine’s life can be honored through donations made to The Humane Society of Sarasota County,  The Meals on Wheels of Sarasota, or The First United Methodist Church of Sarasota.  If you cannot attend the service, please consider posting on https://everloved.com/life-of…

Christine will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was a beacon of service, community, and love, and her memory will forever remain in our hearts.
