Christina's obituary
Christina Langwig Guevin transitioned peacefully from this earth, surrounded by family in her long-time home on Ashmont Hill on February 5th, 2026. She is survived by her children Mariah Grace Guevin, Nate Zeh Guevin, and Eric Thomas Guevin. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 35 years, Thomas William Guevin; son, William Guevin; and her parents: Nettie Jean West and J. Russell Langwig.
Christie was born in Buffalo, New York in 1958 and later attended Oakwood Friends School in Poughkeepsie. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in dance from Skidmore College where she studied under Melissa Hayden and her Master’s degree in early childhood education from Wheelock College. She was the founder of Spruce Street Nursery School, a play-based learning community in the heart of Boston, and served as executive director for 28 years. Christie was known for her relentless positivity and was a mentor, guide, and dear friend to countless teachers and families throughout greater Boston.
A dedicated Dead Head and former professional ballet and modern dancer, she moved through the world with rhythm, grace, and tenacity, making friends and finding joy wherever she went. Christie loved to garden, practice yoga, read, and play with her puppy, Starr. She was a verbivore and thalassophile who spent her summers kayaking and swimming at her family home on Lagoon Pond, Martha’s Vineyard. She will be missed dearly by the Spruce community as well as her many friends and family whom she led fearlessly and with an indomitable spirit of hope. A fare thee well, fly away, celebration of life will be held in April, details to follow.
