Christian's obituary

Christian “Chris” King Petersen was a loving father, son, brother, crazy grandpa (this name was given by his grandkids), and friend. After a long hard-fought battle with diabetes, Chris went to be with the Lord on April 4, 2023, at the age of 65. Chris always showed courage in the face of challenges and despite the pain, came out a hero and stayed strong until the end.

Chris was born to Ken and Shirley Petersen on April 25, 1957. Throughout his childhood, Chris could be found behind home plate catching winning baseball games with his father coaching by his side. He graduated High School from Shawnee Mission West and went on to attend Kansas State University for a little over a year. If you knew Chris well, you knew he was a K-State Wildcat through and through. He later started working at Honeywell (previously known as Bendix and Allied Signal) in 1983 and retired from a long hard-working career in 2015.

Chris found great pride in being a father to his three daughters and loved them deeply. He enjoyed spending time with them and his grandchildren every chance he got. He also enjoyed fishing and hoped one day he would be able to get back on the lake with a reel in hand.

Chris leaves behind his parents, Ken and Shirley Petersen, his sister, Kathleen Stutz (Bryan Stutz), and his three daughters, Ashlee Brattin, Lindsey Ivey (John Ivey), and Carley Roberts (Anthony Roberts). He also leaves behind his 9 beloved Grandchildren, Olen Brattin, Averee Brattin, Allee Brattin, Lane Brattin, Jaylen Ivey, Jordan Ivey, Aliyah Ivey, Aryana Roberts, Alahni Roberts, and one Great Granddaughter Raynee Brattin.

Chris was preceded in death by both his Paternal and Maternal Grandparents, Harold Christian Petersen, Anne Petersen, Cranstoune King Bliss, and Edna Bliss.

Though he will be deeply missed, it brings us great comfort knowing he is in Heaven standing tall and fishing again with his Best Friend Bill Rowe.

Please join us in honoring Chris during a lakeside celebration of life on April 22, 2023. Visiting hours will be from 1:00-3:00 pm at Prairie Lee Lake and DON’T forget to wear your Wildcat PURPLE.
