In lieu of flowers

Please consider a contribution to Memorial Garden.

Background

The goal of this memorial garden will be to plant a long-lasting tribute to our mom, grandma, aunt, cousin, friend and neighbor. Mom loved her own gardens, those of her parents growing up and flowers in general. Not only does will the act of gardening provide a sense of ease, but the finished result will give our community a peaceful place to retreat to remember Chlora as well as your lost loved ones.

The therapeutic benefits of gardening have long been documented, as have the positive effects of nature on your well-being. According to the American Horticultural Therapy Association, plants and gardening can aid in physical, mental and emotional healing. Additional research has shown that people who tend to plants are more compassionate and empathic—including to yourself during the grieving process.

This memorial garden will be small to medium in size and may become part of a larger community memorial.

The needed funds will cover costs for location, plantings, a small statue or memorial marker, a small fountain to run water throughout the garden and a sitting area for remembrance and reflection.

All contributors will be acknowledged or if preferred can be anonymous.
