Cherie's obituary

It is with a heavy heart that we acknowledge the passing of Cheryl "Cherie" Wallace, who sadly left us on December 15, 2022. Born on August 5, 1953, Cherie was a beam of light in the lives of those who knew her. Her sufferings are no longer, and we have the comfort of knowing she abides with her heavenly Father.

Cherie was an incredibly bright and strong woman, an inspiration and shining example of someone who poured her all into everything she undertook. Her sacrificial love was evident in every aspect of her life, from her personal relationships to her community service. She was a firm believer in the strength of faith, often imparting the wisdom that with Christ all things are possible.

One of Cherie's most significant accomplishments was her contribution to the establishment of a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting young mothers during their pregnancy. Her altruism didn't end there. Throughout her life, Cherie opened her heart and home to over 40 foster children, adopting and showering love on six of them as if they were her own.

Cherie leaves behind a powerful legacy rooted in her fervent desire for others to find Christ.

Cherie will be greatly missed by all. Cherie is preceded in death by her father, William and her mother, Evelyn; and her brother Jack.  She is survived by her brothers, Bill and Rod, and leaves behind her beloved husband, Ray, of 52 years, along with their 7 children: Paula (husband John), Eric, Stacy, Jennifer (husband Todd,) Nancy-Dee (husband Denny), David (wife Christy), and Lynsey (fiancée Vin). She was a proud grandmother to 19 grandchildren: Ethan, Johnna, Sophia, Jack, Colin, Olivia, Gabriella; Addison, Ian, Wanda; Christian, Peter, Joy; Alexis, Zachery, DJ, Kylee; Jaydin, and Kahlee. Cherie will also be greatly missed by her many sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews, and church family and friends she made over her life.

A celebration of Cherie's life will be held on August 18, 2023, at 6:00 PM at Perth Bible Church in Amsterdam, NY. In memory of Cherie, we ask everyone to continue her mission of sacrifice and love, ensuring her legacy lives on by considering a donation to Foundation of Ichthyosis and Related Skin Types (FIRST) or Focus on the Family in lieu of flowers.
