Cheryl's obituary

Cheryl Sumner, 74, of East Hampstead, New Hampshire, passed away on Friday, December 22nd, surrounded by her loved ones .

She was born in Melrose, Massachusetts in 1949 to George and Dolly Hodgkins and was raised in Reading. Cheryl is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Charles Sumner; her children, Cliff Sumner and wife Karen, Carolyn Palmer and husband Shawn, and Chris Sumner and wife Tyler; and her grandchildren, Caleb, Kyle, Hannah, Brandon, Stephen, Josiah, Jonathan, and Isabelle.

She also leaves behind her brother George Hodgkins and wife Vivian, sister Gail Tassi and husband Michael, and brother Ron Hodgkins and wife Nancy; her beloved nieces and nephews; and many other loving family members and friends.

Cheryl earned her teaching degree at Leslie University. She served her community for years as a special educator in the Hampstead School District. She will be remembered as a caring and compassionate woman, adept at relating to others and spreading joy.

If you’d like to pay your respects, services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 30th at:

Island Pond Baptist Church, 26 North Salem Road, Hampstead, NH 03841

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
