Cheryl's obituary
Cheryl Parish, age 81, of Westlake, OH went to be with the Lord late Saturday evening, April 19th, 2025, in her home with her family.
Born March 6th, 1944, in Sandusky, OH, she was the daughter of the late Frank Melton, who passed away in 2002, and the late Marie Parish, who passed away in 1993. She was the widow of Mitch Parish, who passed away in 2000.
Cheryl is survived by her stepchildren, Linda (Dwayne), Mike (Bridget), and Janice (Mark); her grandchildren, Halle (Geoff), Natalie (Angela), Andrea (Clyde), Daniel (Brittany), Stephen, Michelle (Kiah), Jess, and Bill; her great grandchildren, Ada, Brooke, Matthew, Kylie, Venez, Brantley, Ryan, Cooper, and Mitch; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Cheryl was a 1962 graduate of St. Mary Central High School before pursuing her English major at The Ohio State University. She worked all of her life in administrative work, and her free time was spent pursuing her passions. She had many interests including cooking, baking, sewing, reading, writing, and theatre. She was heavily involved with the various community theatre organizations both on-stage and backstage. This passion for the theatre led her to meet her late husband, Mitch.
She was known to have a quick wit and a creative mind, as well as a fiery spirit for fighting injustice, and wisdom beyond her years. She believed in speaking up against what was wrong, marching in various demonstrations during the Vietnam War and was a staunch opponent of the War In Iraq. Most of all, she loved being a grandmother and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She made sure to always be there for them whenever able, whether it was to teach how to sew, support a sports game, teach a new recipe, or doing costume work for the high school theater production. She will be missed by all who knew her and remembered fondly.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no funeral service or visitation. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations can be made to Peace Direct, Amnesty International, The National Lawyer's Guild Mass Defense Program, or The World Wildlife Fund.
