Cheryl's obituary

Cheryl McCord, 61, of Conway, AR, passed away on July 18, 2022 after her battle with lung cancer.

Cheryl was born on December 1, 1960 to Bryan and Shirley McCord in Marysville, CA. She attended Vilonia High School and went on to study at Pulaski Tech. She worked atUnited Cerebral Palsy as a caregiver to a very special young girl which she adored. In addition, each year she made wreaths and helped out at the Romance Christmas Tree Farm. Being at the Farm was the highlight of her holidays. Also, like her mother, she was an entrepreneur at heart and was the Director of Content for the edtech startup ZUNI Learning Tree. Her work with ZUNI will positively impact children across the nation and around the world for years to come. She believed in the importance of education and was an avid learner.

She lived anything but an ordinary life. In fact, her life was extraordinary and filled with adventure, peril, passion, love, gratitude, and creativity. The kind of story epics are made of. She is best known for her amazing laugh and smile. She could be sassy, bossy, and fiesty. She knew that love was more important than hate and worked to share love and compassion wherever she could. The spirit world is lucky to have her now. She will continue to do her karmic work from there instead of here. On the morning she passed, the air was cool, the sun was shining over the morning dew, and there was a gentle breeze. It was as if her smile could be seen and felt in nature. She has two wonderful children Christopher Dewitt of Oklahoma and Melissa Harter of Vilonia, Arkansas. She was married to and remained life-long friends with John Dewitt from Ohio.

Cheryl was predeceased by her steadfast and fabulous father, Bryan McCord and her adventurous mother, Shirley McCord, from whom she inherited her beautiful laugh. Left behind are her brother, Kieth McCord, (Pricilla) of Vilonia AR; her two younger sisters Tina McCord and Sheri McCord of Conway AR. She was blessed with four grandchildren: Destini Starr, Devan Griffith (James), Desarai Starr, and Dylan Starr and one great grandchild Hensley May Starr. She has a bundle of nieces and nephews: Eddie McCord, Bailey Ramsey (Eric), Jordan McCord (Audry), Dakota McCord, Cody McCord, and Savannah McCord and three great nephews and one great niece: Trustin McCord, Cooper & Stetson Ramsey, and Ada Kate McCord.

The family requests that instead of flowers, please make donations to Circle Yoga Shala. HC 70 Box 544 County Rd 24, Jasper, AR 72641 (870) 861-5175· Circle Yoga Shala is a retreat in Jasper that provides training and workshops to assist individuals in their healing journey. Please wear something bright and colorful. Cheryl always wore pink, green, yellow, or some other bright and fun color which matched her happy spirit! We will miss her deeply!
