Cheryl's obituary
Cheryl Marie Favrot (Kasel) was born the third of five children, to Peter R. and Betty E. Kasel, in Austin, Minnesota on July 1, 1955. She grew up in Austin and attended St. Augustine Catholic School in her formative years, then transferred to Austin High School in seventh grade.
In 1972, she went to visit her sister Patricia (Pat) Bass (Kasel) in Miami Beach for summer vacation. She went back to Minnesota briefly that summer, only to return to Florida in the fall. She felt she was at home there. Initially, she lived with her sister Pat and started her long waitressing career at Gibby's Restaurant. That is where she met the love of her life, Charlie Favrot, as well as her best and life-long friend, Aimee Hoffman.
From the time they met, Cheryl and Charlie were together always and often went on vacations scuba diving and exploring new places. They married on May 14, 1988. Later that year, they welcomed their daughter, Catherine (Cathy) into the world, and in 1991 their son Michael. They were complete.
Cheryl loved to read, enjoyed sewing and was also a very talented jewelry maker; crafting mostly earrings. She liked to travel, often returning to Minnesota in the fall or spring, as she loved the cooler climate during those times. Another of her favorite things to do was spend time at the casino with her beloved, Charlie, which they enjoyed immensely.
After Gibby's, Cheryl had a few waitress jobs along the way, but none was as important to her as her job at the Fort Lauderdale Country Club. She was so proud to work there. She absolutely loved the members and had great regard for her coworkers. She held that job for over 30 years, until she became ill and had to retire in February of 2023. It was a very sad moment for her when she realized she could no longer work. She passed away peacefully at home on April 8, 2023.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, her father and mother-in-law Charles and Mildred Favrot, her sister Pat Bass, her sister and brothers-law Carol and Vernon Clyburn, Jimmy Favrot, Jerry Bass and Robin Smith. She is survived by and will be deeply missed by her immediate family: Charlie, Cathy (Edwin), granddaughter Olivia, and Michael (Brittany), in addition to sister-in-law Lynne Favrot, brother Mike Kasel, sisters Cathy Kasel and Suzanne Kasel-Smith, and many nieces and nephews.
