Charlotte's obituary
Charlotte Ann Hay, 77, of Pontiac MI. passed away on April 3rd, 2022, surrounded by her family after a battle with Leukemia. Charlotte was born on August 5, 1944 to Charles and Marjorie Hutchcraft in the city of Pontiac, Michigan. After finishing her schooling Charlotte met her first and only true love, Thomas Hay, in 1963 and they wed on June 5th 1965, going on to have their only child Valerie Hay. On March 3rd, 1973 Charlotte joined her husband’s faith by being baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Her faith was her life. Charlotte remained a faithful sister within the Rochester Hills congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Charlotte enjoyed tending to her beautiful garden that she worked very hard on. She also loved sewing and visiting quilt shops with her friends and family. In fact, she was notorious for starting a quilt and not completing it. Charlotte was passionate about spending time with her grandchildren and her nieces and nephews. When she wasn’t filling her home with warmth and kindness, she could be found caring and or babysitting them throughout the years. No matter what she was busy with, she took time to make it her mission to improve the lives of others. We will miss her greatly.
Charlotte is preceded in death by brothers Edward Hutchcraft and Thomas Hutchcraft. Charlotte is survived by husband Thomas William Hay, daughter Valerie and her husband Chris McCalvin, her granddaughters Marisa Oliver (Ethan) and Macy McCalvin, sister Linda Garris (John) her brother James Hutchcraft (Cheryl), brother Howard Hutchcraft, sister Anita Grace (Mike), as well as many other nieces and nephews, with a special mention of her niece April White and her children Michael and Everleigh. April lovingly supported Valerie and helped care for Charlotte during her last days with the family.
The family requests that flowers and cards be sent to 8710 South Shore Drive, Clarkston MI. 48348. In leu of flowers, contributions to JW.org are appreciated.
There will be a virtual memorial service on ZOOM conducted on April 9th at 3pm. If you would like to join the virtual memorial please reach out to one of Charlotte's family members for the credentials.
