Background

Why this cause is meaningful

Union Gospel Mission of Sacramento was deeply meaningful to Charlyn because of her compassion for people facing hardship. Having a stepfather and a son who experienced homelessness gave her a personal understanding of how important dignity, care, and support are during difficult times. Even while undergoing chemotherapy, Charlyn continued to volunteer, believing that serving others always mattered.

How she was involved

Charlyn volunteered in the women’s clothing closet, where she sorted donated clothing for women, men, and children, along with hygiene products and other essential items. Though the work may have seemed small, it was vital, and she approached it with care and dedication. She was deeply respected and loved by those she worked alongside and was a tremendous help to the Mission.

How donations will help

Donations made in her honor will help provide meals, clothing, hygiene items, shelter, and essential resources to individuals and families in need, continuing the compassionate work Charlyn cared so deeply about.
