Charlotte's obituary
Charlotte Kiefer, born on November 11, 1945, passed peacefully into eternity on August 24, 2023. A vibrant, outgoing, and generous soul, Charlotte was the epitome of a self-made, motivated woman whose energy was an inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Charlotte was a beloved wife to her husband, Theodore Kiefer, and a cherished mother to Robert, Joseph, Theodore, Emily, and Kyle. She felt the painful loss of her son, Christopher, in her lifetime. She was the adored grandmother to Rose, Colette, Lilia, Johann, Abigail, Sarah, Hunter, Lillian, Adalyn, Leah, Joseph, Virann, David, Grace, Eva, and Lazarus. She shared a unique bond with her siblings Shirley, Dale, Buddy, and Wayne, and mourned the passing of her brothers Robert and Wardy. She was the cherished daughter of the late Effie “Irene” and Charles H. Batten Sr.
An active member of her community, Charlotte was a regular attendee at Sacred Heart Parish. She dedicated her time as a volunteer at Dade City Chamber of Commerce and served as an organizer at Pasco Sheriff's Agricultural Committee. Her indefatigable work ethic led her to successfully found and operate three retail locations, each in a different county. Furthermore, she took pride in her role as the multi-year President of the Chamber of Commerce.
Charlotte had a zest for life; her favourite recreational activities included cooking and shopping. She held a special fondness for the color purple and cherished her vacations in Helen, GA. Her life philosophy was simple – whatever you do, do it well, and always extend a helping hand if you can. This spirit of generosity and excellence is evident in the legacy she leaves behind: Work hard, be honest, be generous, and help others.
Charlotte's life will be celebrated on September 1, 2023, with a viewing at 10:30 AM and a memorial service at 12:00 PM at Merritt Funeral Home, Brooksville FL. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM at Johnson Cemetery, Spring Lake FL; with a reception at 3:00 PM at Waller Ranch.
