Charlotte's obituary
Charlotte Ethel (Doremus) Hutcheson was born on October 17, 1943, in Brooklyn, NY, to Hal and Ethel Doremus. She was an only child. Charlotte passed away peacefully on September 12, 2024. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, her father (Hal), mother (Ethel), uncle, and husband Gene Hutcheson, many in-laws, Jack and Kelly Hutcheson, Donna and Jim Creswell, Jerry Hutcheson, nephews Danny Hutcheson and James Booe. Although she had no biological children, she graciously embraced the role of a grandparent and great-grandparent to her stepchildren's children. Charlotte is survived by her adult stepchildren, Philip E. Hutcheson and his wife Beth, Geni Hunt, and her husband Steve, Jay C. Hutcheson, and Lea Hutcheson. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Anita M. Hunt, Kaylyn G. Hunt, Kinsey R. Hunt, Zoe M. Hunt, and Faith M.M. Hutcheson; as well as two great-grandchildren: Savannah K. Smith and Ezekiel G. Gnadt, who adored her dearly and sibling in-law Cliff and Donna Hutcheson along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Charlotte's life was filled with joyful moments and countless adventures. From her childhood in Brooklyn, NY, to her later years in sunny Florida, she embraced every chapter with grace and passion. Charlotte enjoyed playing games with her classmates and family in Brooklyn. As she grew into adulthood, she took on various roles and gained wisdom. In New York, she met Gene Hutcheson, and together they built a few companies. They later moved to Pennsylvania where they resided for many years before relocating to Florida in 2000. After being together for over 20 years, Charlotte and Gene finally "tied the knot" on December 12, 2012. Throughout her life, Charlotte worked as a COO, notary, secretary, and in other roles until she decided to retire in 2017 at the age of 74.
Charlotte was fond of playing card games and Scrabble, she was known for her sharp mind. She also enjoyed doing puzzles, taking walks, exercising, and hosting social gatherings. A passionate traveler, Charlotte explored the world and had a love for all kinds of food, particularly vegetables. Towards the end of her life, she developed a sweet tooth and took a liking to Pepperidge Farm Dark Chocolate Chips Crunchy Cookies, praline pecans, and ice cream.
Charlotte will be dearly missed by all her friends and family.
