Charlotte's obituary

Charlotte Demetria Belton, age 55, passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Northside Duluth Hospital in Georgia. She was born November 24, 1968, in Queens, New York to Irvin Edward Belton and Cleopatra Carr. She was a graduate of Wallace-Rose Hill High School in 1987 and received her Bachelors of Fine Arts from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in 1991. An extremely gifted singer and actress, Charlotte has quite a list of credits. From playing Dorthy in The Wiz at North Carolina A&T to taking on major roles at professional theaters including Lola in Damn Yankees, Lady in Orange in For Colored Girls… as well Aasaka in Once on this Island, Charlotte’s love for entertainment knew no bounds. She played in The Water is Wide, as well as, Bolden!, Strike at the Tent, Will Trent, and Genius: Aretha to name a few. Her talent and love for the arts didn’t end there either. Charlotte’s vivid imagination aided her; she was an avid storyteller, and orator. Playful and humorous, with an electric personality, Charlotte was loved by whoever she encountered. A devoted mother, with a flare for the dramatic, there was never a dull moment for her tight knit family of four. She is survived by her children, Shadiyah, Sevour, and Elijah. Her siblings Barbara, Frankie, Lee, and Gary and her nieces and nephews: Manika, Kamilah, Ashly, Micahel, Micah, Ceairra, Christian Lee and Lea. Great nieces and nephews include: Jamilah, Isaiah, Sanaa, Katherine, Gabriel, Layla, Ariel, and Ari as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins. She is predeceased by her mother and father Cleopatra and Irvin Edward Belton, as well as her sister Chantal Proctor.
