Charlotte's obituary
Charlotte Elaine Antes Weirich passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 28, 2024, at her home in Farmers Branch, Texas, after a long illness.
Charlotte was born on January 29, 1948, in Denver, Colorado, to John and Eleanor Antes, who preceded her in death.
She grew up in Denver, graduating from West Denver High School, and went on to attend Texas Lutheran College. It was there she met her physics lab partner and future husband, Wayne Weirich. Charlotte earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry at Texas Lutheran College, followed by a master's degree in chemistry from Texas A&M University. After their wedding on January 9, 1971, Charlotte and Wayne moved to the Dallas area, where Charlotte pursued additional education at North Texas State University and UT Dallas. She also began biochemical research at Wadley Blood Bank in Dallas.
Charlotte and Wayne shared a love that spanned more than five decades, made stronger by their shared interests. Both were active in 4-H during their youth and enjoyed square dancing, polka, and country dancing. Charlotte’s musical background, having played accordion in a high school polka band, was a natural complement to Wayne’s family tradition of polka dancing. Later, on a vacation trip, they rediscovered their passion for square dancing, which led to nearly 50 years of participation. They also embraced round dancing—choreographed ballroom dancing—which Charlotte particularly loved, mastering a variety of ballroom and country styles until her health no longer allowed it.
Charlotte is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, Wayne Weirich; her daughter, Stephanie Weirich, and son-in-law, Steve Zdancewic; her son, John (Johnathan) Weirich, and daughter-in-law, Bekah Weirich; and her cherished grandchildren: Madelyn, Joshua, Ellie (Eleanor), Sarah, Miranda, Kenneth, Jose, Ambbi, Kingston, Ami, and Elijah. She is also survived by her sister, Evelyn Dewald, and her nephew, Christopher Dewald.
A celebration of Charlotte’s life will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 1200 East Hebron Parkway, Carrollton, TX 75010, with a reception lunch to follow in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Charlotte’s memory to the American Cancer Society (https://donate.cancer.org) Metrocrest Services (https://metrocrestservices.org) or Voices for Children (CASA) (https://vfcbrazos.org)
Charlotte will be remembered for her intelligence, warmth, and passion for dancing, as well as her unwavering love for her family and community.
