Charlie's obituary
Charlie "Chuck" Thornton, of Lithonia, Georgia, passed away on July 09, 2023. Charlie was born on March 7, 1937 to the late Charlie Thornton Sr. and Susie Copeland in Woodbury, Georgia.
Charlie was educated in Georgia and at a later age relocated and educated by the New York Public School System. His first job was caddying for other golf players, which started his love for Golfing. Charlie also worked construction as a sandblaster, where he was labeled as a master blaster by his peers. Charlie loved attending softball games and shooting pool. After moving to South Carolina, he became a professional truck driver until he retired.
In 1961, while living in Freeport Long Island, he met Margauret, and they were joined in Holy Matrimony on October 5, 1974, and later were blessed with their beloved daughter Joyce. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of Joyce and anyone who knew Charlie knew that he was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for.
Charlie is preceded in death by his wife Margauret Thornton, Brother Jimmie Thornton and sister Mary Miller. Charlie leaves to cherish fond loving memories: Daughter Joyce Golding of Lithonia, Georgia, Lue Thornton (sister-n-law) of Freeport Long Island, NY, a special Grandson Denim Golding (K9) of Lithonia, Georgia, Two special grandsons, Jamar Golding of Atlanta, Ga and Dwayne Scott of Philadelphia, a special niece Jayla Houser, a host of neices, nephews, other relatives, church family members and friends.

There will be a celebration of life memorial on Friday, July 21, 2023 at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens, Orangeburg, South Carolina 29118 at 10:00AM
