Charles's obituary

Charles Eugene Stahl of San Angelo, Texas passed away on March 20, 2024. He was born on January 17th, 1957, to Charles and Dorothy Stahl. Charles attended Lakeview High school and graduated in the class of 1975.

Throughout his life, Charles devoted himself to God’s calling, inspiring all who crossed his path. His ministry began at the Baptist Tabernacle in the 80s. Charles then founded Berean Baptist Church in Grape Creek in 1990 and spent countless Saturdays knocking on doors to tell strangers about Jesus’ love.

Charles opened Spirit Fit Christian Martial Arts in 1986, a karate school where he not only taught the principles of martial arts and the virtues of discipline, dedication, and determination summed up into one word: commitment but above all he shared his faith in Jesus Christ. In 2018. Charles was honored to be included in the Martial Arts Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City. Throughout his 40+ years as a martial artist, he touched thousands of lives.

Charles lived his dreams: he traveled the world visiting countries like Israel, Macedonia, Germany and Denmark. But he always considered San Angelo home. He loved his hometown, Mexican Food, his motorcycles and his animals. But above all he loved people. He loved different cultures. One of his favorite quotes was that a stranger was a friend you just haven’t met yet.

A Memorial service for Charles will be held at Paulann Church on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at 11 am.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Dorothy Stahl, his sisters Francis Lohman and Marilyn Shields.

He is survived by his sister Deborah Stahl of San Angelo, children Candace Martinez of Royse City, Constance Escalante of Van Alstyne, Charles Caleb Stahl of Bath, Elijah Stahl of Anna, and David Isaac of Copenhagen. He leaves behind his grandchildren Ava and Juliet Martinez, Zachary Escalante, Charlie and Rose Stahl.

He was a Pastor, a Cowboy, a Black Belt, a father, a friend to all, but perhaps his favorite title was Papa C.
