Chuck's obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles "Chuck" Smitherson, a man known for his charisma, wit, stubbornness, and pride. Born on July 13, 1936, his journey concluded peacefully on January 17, 2024.
Chuck was blessed with a heartfelt sense of humor. His charisma was infectious, providing warmth and joy to those around him. Despite his stubborn disposition at times, his determination and hard work paid off in numerous areas of his life. Demonstrating tough love, he always pushed his loved ones to their greatest potential, believing in their capabilities and talents even when they could not.
One of his most valorous achievements includes being awarded the prestigious Purple Heart for his bravery and service during World War II. A proud and capable man, his legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him, reminding them of the virtues of kindness and generosity.
In his personal life, Chuck had a deep love for animals. He will be particularly missed by the local cats and wildlife who were regular visitors to his home, where he diligently supplied them with food and care.
Chuck was the loving husband to Barbara Smitherson who survives him today. Their enduring love for one another was a testament to Chuck's deep capacity for affection and loyalty, providing an exemplary model of lasting commitment for their friends and family.
A funeral service in Chuck's honor will be held on January 20, 2024, at 8:00 PM on Mount Angelus Drive. This will be followed by a burial at the same location at 11:00 PM. There will also be a viewing for Chuck on January 25, 2024, at 8:00 PM at Mount Angelus Drive. Guests are invited to pay their respects and share their memories of this remarkable man.
