Charles's obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles "Chuck" Smallwood II, fondly called Chuck. Born on September 12, 1956. Chuck left this mortal realm on March 29, 2024, leaving a legacy of kindness, generosity, laughter, and love for sports such as NASCAR, football, and basketball.
Charles is survived by his beloved wife, Tena Smallwood, whom he married in the year 1975. He is also survived by his children, his daughter, Sarah Smallwood, and son, Charles M. Smallwood. The memory of Charles will continue to be cherished by his grandchildren ; Alexander Mcpeak, Courtney Billmyer Jr., Charles V. Smallwood and Andrew Smallwood and Aurora Billmyer. He was predeceased by his mother, Betty Burriss in 2021 and his father, Charles “Rod” Smallwood in 1995.
Charles was best known for his generous and caring nature. A man of great strength and determination, he had an unshakeable work ethic, evident in the various jobs he worked over the years with his favorite being a truck driver and crane operator. Despite his battle with illness, Charles never lost his charm and love for practical jokes, always brightening the room with his great sense of humor. He held a deep affection for children and animals, and he was highly protective of those he cared for.
A Celebration of Life service will be held in honor of Charles on April 21, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the Marlowe Ruritan Club, 2133 Broad Lane, Falling Waters, WV 25419. We invite all who knew and loved Charles to join us as we remember and celebrate this extraordinary man who touched so many lives in such profound ways.
Chuck's physical presence will be dearly missed, but his spirit lives on in the love and warm memories he left behind. His impact and influence on those around him were palpable, and his legacy of love, laughter, and generosity will continue to inspire all who were blessed to have known him.
