Charles's obituary
Charles "Charlie" Christopher Schumacher, 36, passed away on January 21st 2022.
Charles was known for being a loving man and seemed to make friends everywhere he went. He was not one to turn down an opportunity to help those around him. He did not care if he knew you a lifetime or five minutes. Charles would bring happiness to those in his presence and was known for being a fellow of infinite jest.
Charles would move frequently throughout his preteen years, but would spend a majority of that time period in the town of Mellott, IN. Charles would change custodial parents after this time and would primarily receive parental guidance\care from his step-mother Dawn Schumacher (whom he called his "Mom'). Charles would grow up in Wheatfield, IN for his adolescent years. Charles attended Kankakee Valley Middle School and Kankakee Valley High School for his education during those years. Charles would graduate from KVHS in 2004 and joined the armed forces shortly thereafter.
Charles was a military veteran of the Army National Guard and served between 2004 to 2010. During his years of service he was deployed overseas to engage in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Charles would achieve his highest rank of Specialist and would earn a Honorable discharge at the end of his career.
Charles would have multiple career opportunities through out his life. Charles was known by many of those who worked with him as a team player. Charles most recent occupation was at Kankakee Valley Steel in Tefft, IN.
Charles is survived by :
-his children, daughter Paris Eve Denham, 17; sons Chevy Alan McCarty, 16, & Dayton Christopher Schumacher, 12;
-mothers, Dawn Marie (Betancourt) Schumacher & Kathryn Joan (Betancourt) Schumacher;
-siblings Jeff Charles Schumacher II; Ally Miranda Schumacher, Kevin Andrew Schumacher;
- Co-parents and close friends, Cassie Lynn & Shawn McCarty.
Charles also leaves behind many people who he would consider family. Charles did not adhere to the standard "family" dynamic and did not believe a shared last name or bloodlines made family. He believed that family was built on shared love and personal actions. The listed survivors are only a small fraction of the camaraderie who have shared a equal in his heart.
He will be missed dearly by all those who knew him throughout a colorful life.
