Charles's obituary
Charles Ronald “Ronnie” Price, 76, of Bowie, Maryland, sadly passed away on August 11, 2024. On February 5, 2024, he was involved in a car accident that caused a traumatic brain injury that he was unable to recover from.
Ronnie was born on September 21, 1947 to Helen Price and William “Bill” Curtis Hairston in Ridgeway, Virgina. After graduating from high school, he was briefly married to Doris Redd, and from their union, they had one son, Ronald Price of Melbourne, Florida. After their marriage, Ronnie joined the Army and was assigned to a duty station in Germany. While stationed there, he met and married Monika Price (Lowe), and together they had two sons, Curtis and Philip Price of Laurel, Maryland. Ronnie went on to pursue a successful career in the United States Army, followed by a career in Government Service where he was stationed and lived with his family in Vicenza, Italy and Nuremberg, Germany. He was very proud to be an Army veteran.
Ronnie retired from the Army from Ft. Meade, Maryland in 1987, and from Government Service in 1998. He then spent his retirement meeting new people and taking frequent drives to Ridgeway to check on his beloved sister Debrah.
He is predeceased by his parents, Helen and Bill, his adoring sister Debrah Price, and his nephew Rogerick Tinsley. He is survived by his wife, Monika; and children, Ronald Price, Curtis and Philip Price, and Tila Sommers of Mannheim, Germany. He also leaves behind his loving grandchildren, Akeyla Porcher of Chesapeake, Virginia; Isiah, Jazmine, Laila and Aaron Price of Laurel, Maryland; and Leyla, Saide, and Yade Sommers of Mannheim, Germany. He also leaves behind one great granddaughter, Nykira Reid; loving niece and nephew, Beverly Miller (Tinsley) and Nicolas Tinsley; daughters-in-law, Cindy Yuman and Paula Price, and a host of friends, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews, and other relatives who will miss him dearly.
Ronnie was known for his passion for elegant clothing and shoes, music, travel, meeting new people, and his emphasis on higher education. He always encouraged everyone that he met to always strive to do better for themselves and for their family and made an impact on everyone he met. He loved his birthplace of Ridgeway, “The Ridge”, and loved to tell stories of his childhood there. He was truly “Ridgeway’s favorite son”. Ronnie visited his friends and family frequently and made sure to look after his sister, niece and nephews.
A Celebration of Life memorial service was held on September 22, 2024 at the American Legion Post 66, in Bowie, Maryland. Many friends and family travelled far and wide to celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Legion Post 66 of which he was a member, and the Brain Injury Association of Maryland. https://www.flipcause.com/sec…
