Charles's obituary

Charles Wallace Guiling, 87, passed away in his sleep on Tuesday, November 1, 2018 at his home in Cumberland, MD. Charles was the first of five children born to Walter and Margeret Rogers of Columbia, MO on January 20, 1931. Charles began a career at the Ford Motor Company after graduating from the University of Missouri in 1952. That is where he met his beautiful bride and wife of 62 years, Rose. In 1960, they moved to Chicago where he managed a Ford dealership until 1989. In 1994, Charles and Rose moved to Cumberland, MD where he worked for Amtrak until 1999. Charles always enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He loved to go fishing, hiking, being outdoors, and bowled whenever he had the time. He also volunteered at the community center.

Charles is survived by his wife, Rose (Cumberland); daughters, Diane (Bowling Green) and Scarlet (Sikeston); sons, Anthony (Durango) and Charles (Keokuk); brother, Dean (Saint Louis); sister, Kathryn (Little Orleans); grandchildren, Joshua, Joey, Christopher, Kathy, Michael, Paul, and Brittney; cousins, Joseph, Jeffrey, Felix, and Hanna; four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Charles is preceded in death by his parents and older sister, Evelyn.
A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held in Columbia Missouri on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at The Mizzou Botanical Garden from 3 PM to 6 PM. The family will greet friends and loved ones until 6 PM. In lieu of flowers and memorials, donations should be made to The American Heart Association.
