Charles's obituary
On Monday, November 11th, Charles T. Potter, loving husband and father passed away at the age of 63. Charlie, as he was known to family and friends, was born to Theodore C. and Jean (Leissler) Potter on January 11, 1956 in Nutley, New Jersey. He graduated from Nutley High School in 1974 and received a degree in business from the University of Delaware in 1978. Charlie owned and operated a credit card processing business serving clients in northern New Jersey for 31 years. He enjoyed serving small businesses helping them be successful. In 1987, he married Barbara Glivens. They raised a son, Branden.
Charlie was an avid golfer, winning numerous championships. He was a much admired member of the Ashbrook Country Club men’s group and you could find him on the golf course 3 days a week in all kinds of weather. Charlie had a winning style - friendly, competitive and kind. Everyone knew that he would certainly "tell it like it is", but he will be remembered for his quick wit and compassionate spirit. If you ever needed someone to help you out, Charlie was the guy.
Charles was preceded in death by his father, Theodore, and brothers Thomas and Theodore Jr. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, their son Branden 31, Barbara's daughter Shan Belinda Byrd, her children Ashanti Byrd-Wilson, Victoria Mayfield, and Jonathan Mayfield; Charles' mother, Jean Potter and sister Marilyn Potter Decalo.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Charles Potter on Saturday, November 23rd, 2019 at St. Dorothea's Roman Catholic Church 240 Broad St, Eatontown, NJ 07724 at 10 am. Repass to follow.
