Charles's obituary

Charles D. “Chuck” Newman, of Ottawa, passed away peacefully at AngelsGrace Hospice on July 4, 2025, at the age of 79 years. He was born in Waukesha on April 15, 1946 to Woodrow and Betty (nee: Wheeler) Newman.

He is survived by his loving wife Linda Newman with whom he shared 32 years of love and 21 years of marriage. Devoted father to Tandi Newman, the late Heather Newman, Meika Newman- Burnikel, Chad Tompkins and Jessica (Steve) Paulin. Special grandfather to Alyson (Myles) Wangerin, Tony (Kristina) Inzeo, Mason Burnikel, Johnny Nowicki and Molly Ritche; great-grandfather to Sophia, McKenna and Micah; brother to Jean Lehndorf, He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Mike Newman, sister Nancy Diermeier, and his beloved daughter, Heather Kyrie Newman, who believed her Dad truly hung the moon. We find peace knowing they are joyfully reunited.

After graduating from Waukesha High School, Chuck proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He went on to work for the Waukesha County Highway Department for 28 years.

Whether it was a cherished trip up-north to Hayward or one of the many spur-of-the-moment adventures, Chuck enjoyed adventuring with Linda. They didn’t need a plan, just each other and the open road. He found joy in live music, especially when it meant cheering on his grandchildren at their shows.

Chuck was always fixing, building, tinkering, or lending a hand wherever it was needed. He found peace and joy in the outdoors, hunting, fishing and especially riding his John Deere Tractors. Chuck was a steady, comforting presence to everyone around him. He always put others first, even in his final days, his selflessness and strength never wavered.

Following cremation, he will be laid to rest, next to his daughter, Heather, in a private ceremony at Prairie Home Cemetery.

The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the incredible staff at AngelsGrace Hospice for their compassionate and dignified Care. Their support provided comfort to Chuck and his family in his final days.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Chuck’s name to AngelsGrace Hospice, whose meaningful work brings peace and grace to families in need.
