Background
Dad's final wish was to be cremated and buried at sea by the Navy. I'm still waiting to get a response from the Naval office of mortuary services to help me facilitate the process but in the meantime, I don't want dad just sitting there. I have been told the Navy does a partial reimbursement for the cremation but no one seems to agree on what that amount is: but the most common number is a $300 reimbursement. The above amount is a quote for the bare bones cremation from a cremation service here. We are draining our savings just to stay here while waiting to get help from the VA.
