Charles's obituary
Charles Ray Jones, MD, 93, of Brooklyn, CT, formerly of New Haven, CT and Hamden, CT passed away on May 15, 2022.
Charles was born on March 14, 1929 to Colonel (U.S. Army) and Annie Jones in Oahu, Hawaii. After graduating from Winthrop High School in the Boston area, he went on to study Psychology and Philosophy at Boston University. He then graduated at the top of his class at New York Medical College. He began his lengthy and illustrious career as a Pediatrician, first in New York City and then in Connecticut. He spent the past 30 years of his life devoted to the care and treatment of children with Lyme disease and co-occurring disorders. He did not retire from practice until the age of 92!
In 1954, he met Margery Louise Goodhue. They wed in 1958 and had 2 children, Martha and Christopher.
Charles was a force of nature, determined to provide for his patients and give them the life he felt they deserved. His patients and his family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. Anyone who knew Charles knew that he was the most loving, kind, and determined physician anyone could ask for.
Charles was predeceased by his wife Margery, his fraternal brother Roy, and his older brother Alexander. He is survived by his daughter Martha (John) and grandson Julian and son Christopher (Cynthia) and grandsons Charlie (Ashleigh), Colin and Caleb. There will be a Funeral Service/Memorial/Celebration of Life in mid-July. Arrangements are pending.
