Charles "Chuck" Huxel, widely known and loved by friends and family, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2024. Born on January 22, 1931, Charles led an influential and accomplished life, making his mark as a pillar of strength in his community, workplace, and home.

Charles had a successful career at the United States Geological Survey where he began working in 1956. His passion for his work and his significantly honed skills had an indelible impact on the national understanding of topography and natural resources. His commitment to his work was second only to his dedication to his family and his community.

In 1960, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Lolita Leon Guerrero Huxel, who predeceased him.  Charles' spirit will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his three children: Leah Gigante, Micah Huxel, and Rachel Huxel. His legacy of love, strength, and generous spirit continues to live on through them.

Charles was a committed political activist.  He was a leader in the Democratic party and past President of  Americans for Democratic Action, where he actively participated in discussions and initiatives aimed at promoting and strengthening democracy. His commitment to community service and civic participation was inspiring to many who knew him.

Charles' life reminds us of the profound impact one can have by simply being kind and dedicated to one's passions, family, and community. His memory will forever be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to have known him. We honor his memory and the significant contributions he made during his extraordinary life.
