Background
As Dad Houston aged, he began to need assistance with some of the daily tasks of his life. However, he did not want to burden his family and friends so he tried to cope, as a widow, on his own. His attempts to take his medicine appropriately, manage his doctor's appointments, and prepare nutritious meals fell short and he suffered a major decline in his health as a resort. Unfortunately, Dad's story is that of many retired veterans who find themselves without a constant companion. We want to honor Dad and continue his legacy by using the VA funded home he recently purchased to provide retired veterans a place not only to call home but one that will provide the companion care they need to stay vibrant and healthy.
