Charles's obituary

We regret to announce the passing of Mr. Charles Hostetler, JD, born on January 31, 1949, who left us on March 24, 2026. Charles was a man of great intellect and curiosity, deeply kind and always eager to share a good joke or a fascinating piece of trivia.

Charles is survived by his loving wife, Susan Hostetler, whom he married in 1975. The bond they shared was evident in all aspects of their lives. Together they shared countless moments of joy, friendship, and love. He is also survived by his brother, Guy Hostetler, and his sisters, Laurie Ellis and Tonya Samuels, who will sorely miss the wisdom and warmth of their eldest sibling.

Charles was predeceased by his mother, Mrs. Sarah Hostetler, and his father, Charles Robert Hostetler. It was under their guidance and care that Charles became the loving, generous person we remember today.

A graduate of the Detroit College of Law at Michigan State University, Charles was a proud lawyer who dedicated his career to the pursuit of justice. The legal profession allowed him to combine his love for history with his desire to contribute to society, and his achievements in this field stand as a testament to his intelligence and determination.

Charles' hobbies and interests were broad and far-reaching. He was a passionate movie enthusiast with a particular fondness for classics such as Star Wars, The Maltese Falcon, Casablanca, and Love Actually. He also enjoyed watching television shows like The Great British Baking Show, Family Feud, Star Trek, and Nero Wolf. However, nothing brought him more joy than settling in with a good history book or engaging in a stimulating game of Chess.

A lover of good food, Charles indulged in steak, lobster, chocolate, potato chipmins, and ice cream. He enjoyed sipping on milk, diet soda and juice, and treasured moments dining out at local restaurants. Despite his adventurous culinary tastes, Charles was not one for exercise. Instead, he preferred activities like reading and watching TV.

Charles' favorite color was blue, reflective of his calm and steady nature. His love for Walt Disney World serves as a testament to his whimsical side, while his vast collection of books and comic books will continue to inspire generations to come.

In his passing, Charles leaves behind a legacy of kindness, curiosity, and intelligence. His profound influence will continue to live and thrive in those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed.
