Chuck's obituary
Chuck was born in Colorado Springs, CO in 1950 and grew up mostly in California with 8 older siblings in a family of American and Canadian heritage. Following several years of university education at CalPoly Pomona he enlisted in the Air Force in 1972 and proudly served his country on assignments in Europe, the Asia Pacific, and the US as a dental laboratory specialist. He married his first wife Bonnie in Japan in 1974 and they raised two sons, Air Force brats through and through. Chuck retired from the Air Force in 1995 as a Senior Master Sergeant (E8), having accumulated 23 years of meritorious service and numerous awards and decorations. He met his wife Laura Billehus in 2009. They lived happily together in Aurora, CO, enjoying many wonderful adventures.
Chuck had an affinity for building things, was fiercely loyal to his friends and to his Air Force colleagues, and deeply loved his family, in particular his two grandsons. Our favorite memories with Dad will always include woodworking in the garage, pre-dawn golf rounds at Fitzsimmons, and camping trips with the Air Force guys at Turquoise Lake.
Chuck is survived by his wife Laura, his sons and daughters-in-law Jordan & Jennifer and Terrence & Cassie, his grandsons Barrett and Hunter, his former wife Bonnie, his siblings Elizabeth Skinner, William Hixson, Beverly Bruner, Bonnie Kramer, and Joyce Sullivan, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held for Chuck at Fort Logan National Cemetery (date and time TBD). In lieu of flowers please kick back with some gyoza and Bud Light and watch a Broncos game on your couch in Chuck’s honor.
