Chuck's obituary

Chuck (Charles) Harlan Russell, passed away on January 10 , 2026, at the age of 76.

Chuck was born to Robert Russell and Margaret (Grams) on July 27, 1949. He was his sister Sandy’s Birthday gift, and their relationship was very special to him. Chuck was a drafted Vietnam Veteran of the Army. He worked in carpentry & construction management, eventually starting his own successful business, Great White Construction. He moved to Myrtle Beach SC in 1990, and later retired from the City of Myrtle Beach.

He was a man of projects. His early passion was working on his drag cars & his yellow Hot Rod. His self-built sheds produced woodworking projects, and his custom trucks and golf cart were award winners in the Myrtle Beach Car Show. He loved cruising the boulevard in his trucks with his canine companion, Duke.

Chuck was the owner of a share of the Greenbay Packers. He also, often unapologetically bragged about his son being a football coach.

Chuck was an avid coin collector and a proud member of the Myrtle Beach Coin Club with his best friend Eugene Harris. He spoke to Boy Scout troops about the hobby, and he would frequently be seen handing out coins to children at Market Commons and in Gordon Biersch.

Chuck is survived by his son, Ryan Russell and daughter in law Roxana Russell of Columbia SC; His “Grands” as “Poppy” referred to them: James and JoAnna; and his Siblings: Dolly(Earnest) Earnest of Davenport IA, Joyce(William) Minard of Bettendorf IA, and Robert (Linda) of Benton AK

He was preceded in death by his parents; and four siblings, Larry, Leona, Roberta (Frank) Whan, & Sandy(Johnny) Hume
