So sorry for your loss. I didn’t know Charles but I came across the obituary. I’m so sorry for your loss. Loosing a child, a sibling in death is very difficult to deal with. My prayers go out to the family. Charles will always be remembered. Jehovah God promises that soon these tragedies will be done and away with. “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” (Revelation 21:4) Please know that not a single tear drop of yours has gone unnoticed by Jehovah.

I have a few memories to share with Charlie as an adult. For some reason he liked the smell of my car when I would pick him to go get a burger or go to the rock gym. I’m not sure if it was the scented car freshener hanging from my rear view mirror that he liked, or the two day old fries in the back seat that I never finished. Anyway, Charlie did have heightened senses it seemed. He loved candles and really enjoyed his mom’s cooking.
In 2018 and 2019 I saw Charlie several times. At that time he was into Game of Thrones (even read the books), lifting weights, and doing things outdoors other than swimming or walking his two dogs. In 2019, I met Greg and Charlie for a hike. I have posted a photo of us. Charlie never liked having his photo taken but we did happen to get one…he was taller every time I saw him! I’m sure he’s 6 feet tall or more. It was a very good day. We saw chipmunks and little lizards…the animal world always made Charlie smile. We had a good lunch afterwards at Moon Valley Cafe. I was very much looking forward to more days like this in the future.
The pandemic of 2020 did not allow me to see Charlie much at all. But I did send him birthday cards and wrote messages. It’s hard to gather all my emotions at the moment, he has left us too soon and too young. All I can say is, you are very much loved and missed Charlie and I hope you found some peace wherever you have gone.

I was there in the hospital when Charlie was born 21 years ago in Phoenix, AZ. My niece Alison finally had a sibling and I had another nephew. But this time, a nephew in the city I lived in. What a joy he brought to all of us.
We played board games, watched kid movies like Barnyard from 2006 (which he never got tired of), played with toys at my house, had fun at Chuck E Cheese or went to the park. He was very quick on his feet so we had to watch him at all times! He also liked to climb and I recall watching him closely as a three year old playing at one of those jungle gym ball pits and flying through the air with no worry in the world. Just a thin mat below. I of course flew at the speed of light, catching him in mid air. Luckily I never had to call anyone to report a kid with a broken arm.
Speaking of the speed of light, Charlie did enjoy superheroes like most kids. Spiderman was a favorite…and the Hulk. The Hulk party he had one birthday is memorable for me. I designed a Hulk bag, his mom Janet made an awesome cake and he loved getting a big green Hulk foam fist as a gift. He liked a lot of things as a kid, especially swimming. He and Ali became fish in the summer and it was so fun! For indoor fun Charlie liked video games for sure, but when I was with Charlie I mostly tried to play games or draw with him. We would have a blast building things out of Legos and creating things with Wikki Stix.
I enjoyed his sense of humor and his smile and laugh is something we will all miss. It’s hard to believe Charlie is no longer in our lives - but he’s in our hearts always.

Sorry Greg, Janet and Alison. Charlie is greatly missed and this is tough. So we will try to move forward and somehow respect his decision, which is what he wanted. I cherish my fond memories of a wonderful kid who loved Legos, the Hulk and swimming. His smile was great to see, even though it occurred less and less as he struggled to make sense of this world as an adult. I feel blessed to have had Charlie in my life.
