Dalton Cross's obituary

Obituary for Charles Edward “Dalton Cross” Long

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Charles Edward Long, known to many by his stage name Dalton Cross, of Conroe, Texas, who entered eternal rest on September 17, 2025, at the age of 63, following a tragic head-on collision the day before.

Born on October 30, 1961, in Conroe, Texas, to Barbara Ann Long and Charles Long, Charles lived a life filled with music, hard work, and creativity.

A gifted entertainer, singer, and musician, Charles—performing as Dalton Cross—shared his talents on many stages, including the Grand Ole Opry. His artistry extended beyond music into leather craft and jewelry making, where his creativity shone. In addition to his music and craft, Charles was the proud owner of a tree service, where he was known for his strong work ethic and joy in his labor.

On July 4, 1993, Charles married the love of his life, Mattie. They shared 32 years together, until her passing just one month before his own. Charles was also preceded in death by his parents. He leaves behind five children, numerous grandchildren, and extended family and friends who will remember his faith, his music, and his talents.

At Charles’s request, there will be no memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to The Remnant Fellowship at https://www.remnantfellowship…

Charles—beloved husband, musician, craftsman, and friend—will be remembered always as Dalton Cross, the man whose song and talents touched so many lives.
