Bernie was an enigma in every way and there are no words to adequately capture his essence. He was so loved and although we are heartbroken, he will continue to guide and protect us so we know we will be ok.

No memorial events are planned

In typical Bernie fashion, he did not want a memorial service. I suppose he had enough of them throughout his military career, he just wanted to be remembered for the personal impact he made on each of us. Instead of a ceremony, honor his legacy by living a little more like him. Stand up for what you believe in, be your own biggest fan by belly laughing at your terrible dad jokes, love unconditionally (even when it hurts), smile and be a hugger.
