Charles's obituary
Charles Walter “CW” Currin, age 76 of Orlando, FL passed away Monday, November 27, 2023, at his home. Born February 11, 1947, in Charlotte, NC, the son of Carl and Hattie B. Currin. On February 7, 1970, in Denver, NC, he was united in marriage to Janet Walker Currin who survives.
Also surviving are one son John Currin of Butner, NC; one daughter, Karen Currin of Charlotte, NC; seven grandchildren Victoria (Taylor) , Saralynn (Chris) , Angie, Rebecca (Christian), Matthew (Lisa), Johnny, and Lindsey; friend, Noel Davis; three sisters-in-law, Glenda Currin of Ft. Worth, Texas, Katy Braswell, and Linda Walker; one brother-in-law, Jeff Walker; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved cat, Millie.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Carl Lyle Braswell; four sisters, Ella Porter, Lydia Speck, Mary Currin, and Martha Walker; father and mother-in-law, Hank and Nellie Walker; four brothers-in-law, Larry Walker, Joey Walker, Bruce Walker, and Steve Davies;
Raymond lived most of his life in Jacksonville and Orlando. He served in the United States Navy from 1970 to 1974. Raymond was an active member of First Baptist Orlando. He loved serving the community. Raymond retired from Seminole State College as supervisor of the broiler room in 2012. He enjoyed golfing, making people laugh, painting, traveling, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 9, 2023, with visitation starting at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Orlando, FL. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Phipps, Nathan Rainier , Michael Currin, Allan Dimer, Hank Braswell and Matthew Clark.
An individual of immense compassion and joy, Charles left an indelible imprint on everyone he encountered. His dedication to family, unyielding kindness, and enduring spirit will be significantly missed, but never forgotten. While our hearts are heavy, we celebrate a life well-lived, cherishing the memories so vivaciously created by Charles.
