With deep regret, we announce the passing of Charles "Charlie" Childs, a much-loved and respected member of his community. Charles, fondly known as "Charlie" to many, was born on January 10, 1937 and passed away peacefully on October 1, 2024.

In his 87 years, Charles touched the lives of many with his wit, warmth, and generosity. He was a man who lived life to the fullest and instilled significant lessons in those around him, among them, the value of being there for each other and nurturing a caring, supportive community.

Charles derived immense pleasure from soul food and the soulful tunes of Etta James. He found solace and self-expression in creative pursuits like painting and reading, and he loved to dance.

Charles is survived by his son, Jacob Childs, and his adored grandchildren, Ollie, Naomi, and Keya Childs who were a constant source of joy and pride to him. In his passing, he joins his son, Thomas Childs, and his parents, Thomas and Susan Childs, who preceded him to the other side.

Charles's legacy of caring for communities will continue to inspire all who knew him. Today, as we mourn his loss, we also celebrate his extraordinary life filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering spirit of generosity. Charles will be profoundly missed, but he leaves behind a legacy that will continue to echo in the hearts of many.
