Charles Joseph Blomes, Jr., 77, of 18210 Sheerin Rd., Pacific, Missouri, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2021 after a battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.

Joe was born on June 8, 1944 to Charles and Agnes Blomes in St. Louis, Missouri. After graduating from Eureka High School in 1962, he went on to study to become a journeyman carpenter.

He married Mary (Susan) Dowling on May 22, 1965, going on to have 5 children, Joey, Kurt, Mike, Sara and Julie. He retired from Hankins Construction Company in 2007.

Joe had an unbreakable connection to the land that has been in the family for generations. He loved teaching his kids and grandkids how to ride horses, pick the best sweet corn and hunt. We are so grateful for all of the life skills that he taught us through the years. Joe could best be described as a natural leader, loving, hilarious, and sometimes just a pain in the butt, but boy did he love his family! Through thick and thin his family was his whole world and he loved us all fiercely, as we did him, until the very end. He was very proud of all of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and always tried his best to support them.

Joe was predeceased by Charles Blomes (father), Agnes Blomes (mother) and Margaret Mary (sister). He is survived by his sister, Sallie (Terrie) Miller, wife Susan (nee Dowling), children Joey (Annette) Blomes, Kurt (Janis) Blomes, Mike (Shelly) Blomes, Sara (Matt) Fakes, Julie (Scott) Turner. Grandchildren: Meaghan, C.J., Devin, William, Shawn, Madison, Cooper and Emme. Great-grandchildren: Breck, Briar and Baker. Cousin and best friend: George Mahler (Suzanne).

Funeral Mass will be held at Most Sacred Heart Parish on Tuesday July 6, 2021 at 11 AM, located at 350 E. 4th Street, Eureka, MO 63025. A celebration of life will also be held later this summer. Details to follow.
