I have fond memories of sharing holidays with Charly and his family when we were growing up. I remember one holiday when all of us kids were in our basement hanging out and I found Charly sitting at my Dad’s work bench (his Uncle Al) making a necklace by squeezing bottle caps from that night’s beverages with my Dad’s vice. He was really young at the time and we all thought how smart and creative he was! He gave it to us girls. He was such a sweet kid!
My full sorrow to the Allmeyers, and friends of Chuck, myself included. My time was Chuck was infrequent but always well spent, and time I knew I was with a friend. I will miss him and always feel we didn't spend enough time together.
Just wanted to mention more about Charly(Chuck). My sister Pat and I were talking about him and we both felt same. "That it didn't matter how many years had passed since we had last seen Charly, every time we did see him he was kind, thoughtful and so easy to talk to".
The last time I saw him was on one of the Labor Day float trips that Steve organized about 15 or more years ago. My son Michael, and his cousin Alex were there, as well as many other cousins or second cousins. Charly wanted to entertain the youngsters by demonstrating how to eat a "crawdad" and I think he had a lot of fun doing so. He was such a joy to be around!
My prayers are with you. Very sorry to hear the devastating news of Charly’s passing. My fondest memories of Charly are when I spent the night at your house in Florissant and played Hide-N-Seek with my stuffed bunny, and the many Thanksgiving dinners we celebrated together. Sending love and prayers.
