Coach, you gave me the confidence that I needed to help maximize my talent on the track at La Salle University. You took me in and educated me on the value of mental toughness and self-confidence. You will be missed, Coach <3
Mr. Alexander was always kind to our family. He was man of a man of integrity, love, and respect. All of this translated every time he spoke to you, he always gave you his undivided attention. Growing up, myself and my family were very lucky to have him be in our lives. I look forward to celebrating your life in the spring. Mr. Alexander, you will be missed.
Coach Alexander:
Some of my fondest memories from track began with you at Leeds. You were like a second father to many of us girls on the track team, you coached, mentored, comforted, motivated, educated, encouraged, and loved us as we were your own daughters. I will never forget the pride I felt when I made the team and you handed me my first track uniform. I remember being honored at my eighth-grade graduation to present you with our team’s token of appreciation. Thankful for the role that you played in my life and wishing I had taken the opportunity to tell you before now. May you rest in peace knowing that the footprints that you blazed will forever be etched in many lives forever.
To the family, thanks for sharing your husband and father with many others during his life-time, may God wrap you in his loving embrace of peace and comfort you in the days to come.
With Love and Respect.

From Track Phi Track of Temple University - Our sincere condolences to the family of Charles Alexander. We honor the memory of a great man and coach!
Mr. Alexander, words will never describe how much you have influenced my life. We experienced both joy and pain together and had many fights. I will never forget the moment in Los Angeles when you instructed me on my race strategy for my 440 yard race. For a change, I listened to you and it resulted in a national record. We shared so much outside of track because I was usually the first one to be picked up in the afternoon and the last to be dropped off. I am the last of the old heads and I am sad I cannot reach them so they could honor you as you deserve. You were one of God's angels for me and many others and I am so grateful that you were part of my life. To coin one of your favorite expressions, "I will get the lead out of behind" and move forward in my life with you watching me from heaven.
My prayers and condolences to the family of our beloved Track Coach! You will always be in my heart! He was an awesome coach that will never be forgotten ❤️

While distance made it hard to stay in touch, I got to know Uncle Chuck during my time out East while interning over the summers during college. He was a kind and welcoming man and his legacy very clearly continues with his children and family. I am so sorry for your loss.
I called him Cake because he was at the LaMott Community Center when he noticed that I ran. My Mom was a single parent with three children and when he found out that I didn't have proper running shoes he gave me my first pair of Nike sneakers. He always had an encouraging word for me. I really appreciated his kindness. To someone who grew up poor, having the opportunity to receive a scholarship to Temple under Coach Alexander was truly a blessing. It hurts my heart to know that he is gone. He will be sorely missed. To the family, I am so sorry for your loss.

Sincerely,

Edyrl Parkinson-Green
