Andrew's obituary

In Loving Memory of Charles "Andrew" Albanese

August 7, 1960 – July 7, 2025

Andrew passed peacefully in the loving care of his partner Darshana at their home on July 7, 2025, after a brief battle with cancer. Born on August 7, 1960, in Akron, Ohio, Andrew was the cherished son of Patricia and Charles Albanese and grew up in Brimfield, Ohio, surrounded by the love of his family and the joy of neighborhood friendships.

Andrew is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, William (Bill) Albanese. He is survived by his devoted brothers, Timothy and Daniel; his beloved daughter Deanna, her husband Cris Lopez, and treasured grandchildren, Alani (5) and Amias (2), who were the light of his life. He also leaves behind his adored nieces and nephews—Alexandra, Peter, Kyle, Carly, and Danielle Albanese, Gianna Mae—along with his loving soulmate, Darshana, and a wide circle of friends and extended family who will miss his generous heart and playful spirit.

A proud graduate of the University of Akron, Andrew earned his bachelor’s degree in business finance. He spent his life devoted to those he loved—coaching youth basketball, cheering for the Cleveland Browns, and making every gathering brighter with his laughter and kindness.

Andrew was a man of adventure and heart. Whether he was biking the trails, riding his motorcycle down winding roads, visiting as many national parks as possible or playing games with his grandkids, he embraced life with a fun-loving, fearless energy. Andrew was deeply spiritual and cared for everyone and everything in his world.

Andrew's legacy lives on in the memories of youth games, spontaneous road trips, and jousting with spirited wisdom. Andrew is assuredly now free of discomfort and hiking down from the redwoods to a perfect stroll on the beach thinking of your love for him.

His life will be celebrated on what would have been his 65th birthday—August 7, 2025—at his cousin’s home in Benicia, California at 3 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Andrew's name to support our National Parks or, by following in his frequent example of living with a generous spirit, and simply doing something kind for someone in need.
