Charlene's obituary

Charlene Leona [Mikus] Zdanio, 79, a 58-year resident of Macomb Township, died peacefully at McLaren-Macomb Hospital on Friday, Oct 24, 2025. She was born November 8, 1945, in Highland Park at Detroit Osteopathic Hospital.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 34 years Robert Zdanio. Charlene said she will remember him as a great friend, husband and fishing-buddy who had the patience to teach her how to fish.

After his death in 2000, she planned to work a few more years to retirement, travel a couple of years, then join her late husband. After her retirement from Ford Motor Company in 2004, unbeknownst to her, she found interest in many things that kept her going for a couple more decades. She experimented with daily travel trips; which escalated to week long tour rides across Michigan, the United States and Canadian Provinces.  She tackled her yard-work & gardening during the day and sat down in awe over her accomplishments at the end of the day.  She even kept moving after fighting battles with breast cancer and a hip replacement.

With the help of her many friends at the local senior centers, she picked up hobbies like travel, art, concerts, knitting, darts, and much more.

She is survived by her sons, Kurt Zdanio of Warren, and Terry Zdanio of Macomb Twp. ; Sister-In-Law Liz Mikus; Neices Brenda (Daryl) Smith and Cathie Zdanio and Nephew Edward (Julie) Zdanio; Sister-In-Law Karen Mikus, Nieces Heidi (Mitch) Van Dyke & Hayley (Goran) Franjkić; and many more relatives and great friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Mitchell and Theresa [Charron] Mikus and her brothers Jerry and Larry Mikus.
