Chang-haw's obituary
Chang-haw Yueh (樂昌浩), fondly called Charlie, passed away peacefully on May 24th 2025 at the age of 90, two months shy of his 91st birthday. He was surrounded by his loving family at Emory University Hospital in Decatur, GA.
Chang-haw was born on July 26, 1934 during a tumultuous time in China’s history in the outskirts of Shang-hai to Xin Ten Yueh (father) and Hei Zhu Wang (mother). He immigrated to Taiwan at 10 years old. He made life-long friends attending The Affiliated Senior High School of National Taiwan and later the National Cheng Kung University, majoring in Mechanical Engineering.
During a period of working for CPC Corporation (Taiwan Chinese Petroleum). He met the love of his life, I-Feng Tsui (崔宜鳳, Eva) and they married in 1967. At the encouragement of friends, Chang-haw applied to graduate school in the United States. He attended graduate school at University at Buffalo, New York, receiving a Masters degree in Civil Engineering. He worked for Hooker Chemical Company till 1984. Afterwards, he moved to Charleston, South Carolina working for the South Carolina State Ports Authority until his retirement in May 1998.
During his retirement, he moved to Atlanta, GA with his wife to be closer to his son. Chang-haw enjoyed catching up with old friends, following the stock-market and singing. Many of his friends sought him out for his wisdom and advice.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Eva; his two children, Lillian Chung (Wilson) and Chris Yueh (Lena); and four beloved grandchildren–Sydney, Colin, River and Calliope; two younger brothers–Chang Xia Yueh and Chang Loh Yueh. . He was preceded in death by his sister Chang Hua Yueh.
