One time when our main temple was still in Hilo that was actually the home of Gopal and Mulla. It was at a Sunday Feast and Chakura came to the Sunday program where the huge set of ear phones. I saw him more than one time with his earphones. So I found myself in the kitchen and he was there too and I asked him can I please hear what's on your earphones. he smiled at me and handed them to me, and I put them on, and I heard the most beautiful, inspiring classical music that lifted the soul. I smiled back at him, and when I gave him his earphones back, I said, I love classical music myself Vivaldi is my favorite composer. He smiled at me and we actually made a connection.

2021
This is Chakra's heartfelt artwork. On July 20th of 2021, Chakra started a chat with me on Discord by sending me this picture. He wanted to share with me his interest in art. Up until this point I hadn't ever seen this side of him, and it helped me feel closer to him. He seemed nervously excited to share this part of himself, and revealed that he'd been very emotional when drawing it. I described to him what I thought the picture depicted as follows: "It makes me think of the concept of feeling a desperate yearning for something you need, trying to come out from whatever is pulling at you from behind, reaching and reaching but you can't quite get there." He replied that that's what he was going for. At this point in our life, I hadn't connected with him for years, and for him to reach out to me with such a vulnerable part of himself really touched me. I felt special that he trusted me to be a part of his emotional processing of life. I learned then, and thereafter, that there was a level of depth to him that was generally hard to reach beyond his goofy and jolly exterior. I feel fortunate to have had the privilege of being someone he could share a part of himself with, even if it was brief. Most of my memories of him are from our childhoods, when we were both very different people from our adult selves. I'm so grateful to have gotten to know him as a adult. I sorely miss connecting with him, my near-twin cousin.

We loved Chakra.  I remember him as a little boy he always had his hand in his bead bag. I thought wow he’s going to be a real devotee. He was so sweet and kind.

Then when he was in India in 2013, in Vrindavana, he stayed with us. It was a cold winter. For Thanksgiving we went with our friend Pariksit to Brijbasi for dinner. We loved the cake there. We also spent time in Govardhan when the 3 of them. My daughter Taravali, Giri, Chakra and the old lady myself did parikrama of half of Govardhan. The kids did it Dandavat , I did a couple myself on the sandy path we all know and love. It took them 3 days. We tried to stay at the nice motel right there by Giri’s house, well they wouldn’t let us westerners stay, but we got them. For the couple of hours we were there our dirty feet left a mark. We were forced to leave in the middle of the night and were sent packing down the road to a room where hot water was provided in the morning. The kids stayed at Giri’s house. The cow godhala they called a house anyways. But we had so much fun. I was buying ice cream for the kids along the way. I gave the chapati walls a 500 note and he was very grateful. We’d  end the day at Brijbasi just up the road. It was a very memorable 3 days the I personally have tucked away in my heart. There’s no doubt in my mind that Chakra was a very great soul and he made great advancement while he was well on his way.

We loved Chakra and always have the fondest and sweetest memories of him.

My heart goes out to his Mother and father and Ohana. I love you all.

May Radha keep sweet Chakra in Her loving arms.

All my love

This is Chakra with his mother and newborn sister, Shrida just after her birth. Chakra shared with me at this age (ten years) that he loved having so many siblings. He told me that there was always someone to play with, never a dull moment. — with Nama Best
He was always smiling and I enjoyed the time I knew him at the magic game shop in Hilo. There were many times we would all go to a prerelease and you knew your family would be there. Im sorry for your loss.

I heard this song for the first time today. I think Chakra would've liked it. It reminds me of some of the music that he listened to. If you check out or are familiar with his playlist VIBE, you might know what I mean. The ethereal, psychedelic, melancholy, soft, lyrical beauty that he seemed to so very much appreciate and relate to. I think anyone who's lost someone will feel something when hearing this song. The demo was recorded in the late 70s and sung by John Lennon a short time before he himself died. A collective labor of love made over the last few decades. I just think that's really beautiful. Wish I could share it with Chakra. Ask what he thinks about it. Ask how it makes him feel. See if he likes it enough to add it to his special little playlist. But I can't...so I'll just play it over and over and over again and think of him.

"I miss you, oh now and then."

There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about Chakra. I was so blessed to be a work mentor for him, and watching him grow into a man who chose to live for joy every day was such a beautiful thing. He had such a deep care for those around him and it filled my heart so deeply. I know I’ll never stop thinking about how wonderful he was. I miss him so much. Truthfully one of the hardest things is that I got to tell him how proud of him I was, but I can only hope that I’m living a life that he would be proud to see. But I also know if I could tell him where I’ve gone since he left he’d have that same huge smile on his face that I can’t get out of my head. And when I think of hugging him I feel warm again. I know he’s resting in peace because of the way he chose to live. I hope to be more like him every day.

Some of Chakra's favorite songs:

Dernière danse by Indila

Chakra's most recent and last powerlifting tournament. He was always pushing the limits of what was humanly possible for him.
You can really see his personality in these posts. Chakra loved to share his knowledge and experiences with others. Unfortunately, not everyone appreciated his sarcastic wit.
Chakra binge played DOTA and DOTA2. Here he got cheated on a deal. Win some, lose some. All's fair in love and war?
Chakra and his cousin-sister, Padma, played this video game a lot when they were younger.
Any guesses on whether Chakra wrote this? It combines two of his passions. Only he would know.
Chakra's personal website that he was quite diligent about keeping up to date.
