Obituary

Chad Michael Kelly of Trumansburg passed away after a brief battle with cancer on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at the age of 41.

Chad was born in Ithaca on January 26, 1982, a son to Victor Kelly and Cheryl DeFrahn. He graduated from Lansing High School in 2001 and enjoyed cooking and sewing in his youth. Chad had a unique ability to envision things and could visualize and create anything. This talent led to him into leather crafting, photography, designing and making vinyl decals, tattooing, and pinstriping. Recently, Chad became a volunteer at Watkins International where he participated in flagging and communications during races.

He will be deeply missed and will always be remembered as a dedicated and loving son, brother, uncle, father, and husband who always did his best and made everyone laugh.

Chad is survived by his wife, Gayle Kelly; three children, Cameron Kelly and Turner and Seth Carlson; father, Victor (Mary) Kelly; mother, Cheryl DeFrahn-Homan; siblings, James (Tiffany) Kelly, Matthew (Becca) Kelly, Jonathan (Demetria) Thomas, and Benjamin (Emily) Thomas; aunt, Yvonne (John) Mainville; uncle Thomas Hendrix; step grandmother, Helen Kelly; and many nieces and nephews. Chad was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Charles “Pete” and Beverly Kelly; maternal grandparents, James and Shirley DeFrahn; and two aunts, Kathy Fox and Dawn Kelly Hendrix.

A Memorial Service will be held at 12:30pm on Friday, October 20, 2023 at Calvary Baptist Church in Trumansburg .
