Cedric's obituary

Cedric Roosevelt Gordon, born on April 17, 1962, in Jersey City, New Jersey, was a bright spark of personality, warmth, and unapologetic authenticity. He was the beloved son of Rosevelt Gordon and Helen Gordon, and from an early age, it was clear Cedric carried the unmistakable spirit of the Gordon family, strong, bold, loyal, and unforgettable.

Cedric was loved deeply by his siblings, Sharnette Gordon (deceased), Doris King, Victor Gordon (deceased), Philip Jackson, Darrell Gordon, and Christopher Gordon.

Cedric attended schools in Hillside, New Jersey, where he graduated from Hillside High School and later served in the U.S. Army. He developed a love for cars that stayed with him throughout his life. This passion led him to work alongside his father in the family business in West New York, New Jersey, where he sharpened his skills as a mechanic and built a reputation for his dependable work and undeniable presence.

Cedric was the father of five children: Antwan Edmonds, Rahfeal Gordon, Janvier Gordon, Alfonso Gordon (deceased), and Isaiah Gordon. He was also the grandfather of six grandchildren, Bryce Thompson, Faith Edmonds, Sinai Edmonds, Micah Edmonds, Amir Edmonds, and Musa Hemby.

Each of them can tell you that his personality was humorous, direct, stern, and full of life. This made him memorable in the lives of those who knew him.

Cedric had a gift for lighting up a room the moment he stepped in. You always knew when he arrived, whether by his booming laugh, his classic jokes, or the playful nicknames he handed out freely. To the ladies, he was quick with a smooth “Hey baby girl,” and to the fellas, he’d toss out a signature “what's up playboy” with a grin.

And if Cedric said he had to “handle business,” you knew the conversation was over, especially if he was already pointing you toward the door. But no matter how tough or comedic the moment, Cedric always anchored his words with his favorite and most meaningful reminder: “Keep God first.”

Cedric will be deeply missed by all who knew him. The family, friends, and everyone who had the opportunity of crossing his path. His humor, his energy, and the mark he left on the hearts of many will not fade. Cedric lived loudly, loved fully, and left his mark as undeniable as the man himself.

May his spirit rest in peace and may his memory never be forgotten.
