It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Cathy Sanchez, who left this world on March 1, 2024, surrounded by her devoted children. Born on December 28, 1950, Cathy touched countless lives with her infectious smile and hearty laughter, embodying kindness and generosity in every facet of her life.
Cathy is survived by her loving daughter, Cynthia Macias and her cherished son, Keith Sanchez also her beloved step children Debbie Sanchez and Charlie Sanchez. She was a cherished grandmother who held a special place in her heart for her grandchildren. While her loss is deeply felt, her loved ones find comfort knowing that she is now reunited with her parents, Catherine Thompson and Leroy Perkins, as well as her step-parents, Tommie Thompson and Mabel Perkins.
Retiring in 2009 from a rewarding career with the United States Postal Service, Cathy, in her later years, dedicated her time to causes that held special significance to her. She was a proud volunteer of several service organizations such as Ronald McDonald House Charities, Life House Crisis Pregnancy Center, and St. Vincent De Paul. She was also an active attendee at Holy Trinity Church, St. Agnes Catholic Church, The Elks Lodge, and Springfield Little Theatre, where she made numerous cherished friends. Cathy's contributions to Springfield Contemporary Theater underscored her lifelong love for the performing arts.
A memorial service to honor Cathy's life and legacy will be held on April 25, 2024, at 10Am at St. Agnes Roman Catholic Cathedral. All those who had the privilege of knowing Cathy are welcome to join in remembering a woman whose life was a living embodiment of her core belief: "Be kind and have a good time."
Her lasting legacy will be her unending kindness, her boundless generosity, and the deep laughter she freely shared, bringing joy to every life she touched. Cathy Sanchez will be dearly missed but her spirit will continue to inspire all those fortunate enough to have known and loved her.
