Cathryn Lee Morrisey (formerly Cox), 54, passed away on July 31, 2019 in Houston, Texas as the result of an accident while walking her dog, Penny. Cathy, a middle sister to Carolyn and Kristyn, was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on October 9, 1964. She was raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where she graduated from Snider High School in 1983 before becoming a Registered Respiratory Therapist.

Cathy married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Kent Morrisey, on June 9, 1990. Cathy and Kent were happily married for 29 years and were part of the fabric of their communities in Fort Wayne, Atlanta, and Houston. They spent 27 years in Atlanta where they welcomed two daughters, Kelliann and Megan, to the world while making lifelong friends and memories together. Cathy and Kent were avid Georgia Tech fans. They supported the school as donors and season ticket holders and could typically be found hosting fun tailgate parties prior to cheering on the Yellow Jackets each Saturday.

Cathy’s love for taking care of others could be seen by the rest of the world throughout her time at work, but it shined through most when she came home to show her daughters what it meant to be a mother. She had a great sense of humor and her charming wit was boundless. She enjoyed making people feel welcomed as a guest in her home and carried herself with grace and style. Cathy displayed her athletic endurance as she completed several marathons in Atlanta and around the United States. A wonderful cook, she made it known to all that the most important ingredient in every recipe she put together… was LOVE.

In 2018, Cathy and Kent moved to Houston to begin their next chapter. They formed many new friendships and embraced new experiences that came their way.

Cathy is survived by her husband, Kent, two daughters, Kelliann and Megan, parents, Richard and Linda Cox, and two sisters, Carolyn and Kristyn, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, neighbors, and – of course – fur baby, Penny. She was loved by all who met and knew her.

A Celebration of Life for Cathy was held at New Branch Church, 3805 Braselton Hwy, Buford, Georgia 30519 on August 10, 2019 at 11:00am.
