It is with profound sadness and shattered hearts that we announce the passing of Catherine Riley (née Amalfi) on December 29th, at the Hamilton General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family, in her 79th year. She has now been reunited with her parents, Santo and Pauline Amalfi, who were waiting to wrap her in their loving arms and welcome her home.

Cathy was the beloved and devoted wife of Albert, who is missing her immensely, having lost the love of his life. She was a cherished mother to Fred Riley (Nicole) and Lisa Sinichko, and a deeply loved grandmother to Joey Riley, Shayne Riley (Nick), and Abigail Sinichko, as well as a proud great-grandmother to Nova. Nothing in life mattered more to Cathy than her family, and they will miss her tremendously.

She is also survived by her siblings, Fred Amalfi and Rita Amalfi, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. Cathy had a special way of making everyone feel welcome and treated all those around her like family. This was exemplified through her over 45 years in financial services, where she worked with dedication and care at Avco Financial and HMECU Credit Union.

Cathy will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and the quiet yet meaningful ways she touched the lives of others. She embraced life with enthusiasm and joy, enjoying time at “church” and relaxing at her summer home in Napanee. Above all else, her greatest happiness came from being surrounded by her beloved family.

She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, family, and cherished memories that will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. Cathy is now at peace, resting comfortably and free from pain. Though her presence will be deeply missed, she will be forever held close in the hearts of those who loved her.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place, and a Celebration Of Life will be held on March 22nd at C Hotel located in Hamilton at 1530 Stone Church Rd E. Open House from 1-4pm
