Catherine D. Moorer was born to Lula Bell Draines in Minter, Alabama on March 29, 1927. She confessed Christ at an early age. After graduating from high school, she enrolled as a student at Miles College – Birmingham, Alabama. She majored in Childhood Education. After college, she became a teacher and taught within the Alabama public school system. After her childhood sweetheart, David Lee Moorer, Sr., completed his military duty during World War II, they married and moved to Birmingham, Alabama. They were blessed with a happy and prosperous marriage for fifty-seven years.
They joined Mount Zion Community Church under the pastorate of Reverend Herod. She was an active Church member and started a number of Church Programs. The verse Micah 6:8 “He hath shewed thee O man, what is good and what doeth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thou God?” speaks to and for her.
