How you can help
Our beautiful mother, Catherine Denice Leto, 62, of Key West, Florida went to be with her Lord on Monday December 25, 2023.
She was born on November 2, 1961 in Sulphur Springs, Texas to the late Charlotte Ann and William Joseph Golden.
When she was eight years old, her parents relocated to the Florida Keys where she would spend the majority of her life touching us all with the love that she found in her relationship with Jesus of Nazareth. She would often mention that the most significant event that shaped who she became was when at age 12, her friend Carmen, invited her to a church service where she encountered the love of her Creator through the person of Jesus Christ. That event would be the seed that ultimately became the catalyst for who she became as a woman.
Catherine’s life can be characterized by one word: love. Her selfless devotion to others was endless. Her ability to brighten the lives that she encountered left us all amazed. Her unrelenting concern for her family was evident through non stop phone calls and a desire to see everyone flourish. Catherines heart was to become the type of person that she saw displayed through her mother Ann Golden and to leave a legacy for her daughters to emulate. She placed a special interest in the lives of her grandchildren and wanted desperately to insure that they would encounter the love that had become central to her own existence. It was all about love. Yet her love didn’t stop there.
For over thirty years she offered her infectious smile and encouragement to those who worked at Keys Energy. Whether she quietly prayed with customers on the phone or offered herself to listen to the problems of her coworkers, she always sought to be a caring, loving friend that gave herself to the goal of loving her neighbor as herself. Her church families Sugarloaf Baptist, Glad Tidings Tabernacle and Ocala First in Ocala have been forever impacted by her love, praise and dedication. For those who have been impacted by this amazing love through Catherine, she would want us all to know one thing; it wasn’t hers it was God’s. As she transitioned into glory the day that we celebrated the birth of the Lord Jesus, she got to encounter the one who gave it to her face to face. So as we hold onto the part of her that was so dear to us all know that you are holding onto the one she met as a twelve year old girl. Jesus the expressed image of God; God is love.
